Sue Alford - Homecare Companions

Sue Alford

Founder, Homecare Companions (Retired-2021)

Sue Alford founded Homecare Companions in 2009 and although she retired in 2021, her vision and mission have continued to guide the Homecare Companion philosophy of client care. With over 15 years of experience in the recruiting and staffing industry, Sue Alford recognized a growing need for in-home healthcare professionals in Baldwin County, AL, in 2009. Drawing on her extensive staffing experience, she founded Homecare Companions to connect seniors and disabled adults with qualified, trustworthy caregivers, allowing them to remain in their homes with personalized non-medical care. Over the past decade, Sue has built an exceptional network of caregivers and clientS. Before establishing Homecare Companions, Sue founded iTQuest, Inc. in 1999, specializing in IT recruiting. After relocating to south Alabama in 2005, Sue transitioned into real estate, opening Southern Breeze Realty. However, her true calling was helping seniors, which she discovered upon opening Homecare Companions. The company’s mission of providing compassionate, reliable care for seniors is what Sue feels she was meant to do and she has since dedicated herself to supporting the elderly in maintaining their independence at home.

Sue’s passion for helping others extends beyond her business. Since retiring, she is actively involved in the community, serving as the President of the Foley Rotary Club for 2023-2024, and on the YMCA Metro Board for Baldwin and Mobile Counties. She also serves on the board of the Sea Glass Initiative, working to assist the homeless and unsheltered in Baldwin County and has partnered with the Special Olympics, where she has advocated for government funding to support these crucial programs.
